Testaccio is built on a plain in an almost perfect grid of parallel and perpendicular streets at the foot of the Aventine Hill, across from Trastevere, on the left bank of the Tiber. Though always lively, this working-class neighbourhood is still relatively unknown by tourists. Whether it is nature, culture, or nightlife you are looking for, Testaccio has much to offer with its traditional restaurants and bustling night clubs.
Ginori is situated in a beautiful 1930s building exhibiting classic Testaccio architecture. Testaccio's daily market in the neighbouring square is known for its fresh produce and competitive prices. It will soon be relocated to the nearby Via Galvani, in front of former abattoirs that now house a museum of contemporary art.
There are lots of public transport options nearby (Metro Line B, the Ostiense and Roma Ostia Lido train stations, as well as several bus lines, including the 23 bus that takes a scenic route along the Tiber). The Baths of Caracallam, the Colosseum, and the Circus Maximus are only a 20-minute walk away.
The apartment
This cosy third floor apartment (26.4 m² + 8 m² mezzanine) is quiet and well laid out.
A glass door off of the building's inner courtyard serves as the apartment’s entrance. It leads to the kitchen (9.2 m² - east facing), which is equipped with a fridge, gas stove, electric oven, and table with three chairs, and adjoins the living room.
The living room (11.9 m² - west facing) has windows that look out onto both the yard and the street. It is furnished with a wardrobe, a sofa-bed, two nesting coffee tables, a bookcase, a recliner, a chair, and a beanbag chair.
A wooden staircase leads to the bedroom (8 m²), which is on the mezzanine (ceiling height: 1.20 m) and is complete with a double bed, two bedside tables, and two stools.
The bathroom (5.3 m²) has a small window overlooking the yard and is in the entrance of the apartment. It is fitted with a bathtub, sink, mirror, washing machine, bidet, and toilet.
