The apartment is situated in Albergheria, a crumbling, multicultural district in Palermo's Old City that, much like the centre of Palermo, has seen better days but is improving thanks to the European Union fund and private investments.
Ballaro is one of the oldest markets in the city, and where most of the locals do their shopping. Arab merchants sell their produce at this vibrant souk—a testament to Palermo’s Arab origins, which are still very much present.
La movida palermitane is mere minutes away in the bustling boutiques along Via Bara all’Olivella in La Kalsa.
The apartment is situated in the Palazzo Raffadali Speciale. The palace built during the second half of the fifteenth century on Palermo's old walls is just off the square of the same name and a stone's throw from Santa Chiara and Piazza Bologni. The palace’s Gothic-Catalan origins are apparent in its facade.
The apartment
Exposed ceiling beams lend charm to this quiet fourth-floor studio (25 m²). The air-conditioned apartment features a balcony with a fabulous view of the skyline, Monte Pellegrinom and other nearby mountains.
The bedroom (16.6 m²) has no windows and yet is very charming with its sloped ceilings. It is furnished with a double bed, two bedside tables, a dresser, a small wardrobe, and a TV.
The kitchen (7 m² - southwest facing) is very bright thanks to a window and a glass door that leads to the balcony. It is equipped with a refrigerator, a small oven, a table, and two chairs. The door in the front entrance is slanted (maximum height of 1.96 m/minimum height of 1.17 m).
The bathroom (2.55 m²) is fitted with a shower, sink, bidet, and toilet.
The balcony (25.7 m² - southwest facing) is complete with plants and a table and chairs.
