- Take the “Pisa Aeroporto–Firenze Centrale” train outside the departures hall to Santa Maria Novella central station

PARKING

1) Visitors are not permitted to drive in the historic centre of Florence. Traffic is closely monitored by camera and the information is transmitted to the city police who ticket violators.


Cars are permitted in the centro storico at the following times:


- 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Monday to Friday, except for 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
- Cars are permitted in the centro storico 24/7 on Sundays and bank holidays

There are a number of car parks on the historic centre’s periphery and within walking distance of each district:

2) Only those with access to the historic centre’s private parking lots may drive into downtown Florence.


How to get there


- Go directly to the parking lot (you will not be authorized to park in the centro storico; the city police monitors traffic closely with cameras)
- Once there, the parking garage will give your car's licence plate number to the city police department to cancel the fine

Bus tickets can be bought:
- from the ATAF information office (left exit);
- from local tabacchi (tobacco shops);
- from newsstands; or
- on the bus (cost: 2€ instead of 1.20€).


There are several kinds of tickets:

- 5€ (24 hours)
- 12€ (3 days)
- the electronic Carta Agile.

The cloakroom at Santa Maria Novella station (located near the left exit) is open daily, from 6 a.m. to midnight. Cost: 4€ per bag for the first 5 hours.
